Abstract
Description
本出願は、2011年12月5日に出願された先の米国仮特許出願第61/566798号の優先権の利益を主張するものである。
グラフェン(Angstron Materials,Dayton,Ohio,USAにより製造される(製品番号N008−100−P−10))をcBN母材に組み込んで、幾つかの工具を製造した。磨砕ミルを使用して粉末ブレンドとイソプロパノールとを、250ml容量のジャー中でWC磨砕媒体とともに、200rpmで10分間混合した。結果生じたスラリーをオーブン中で、空気中で数時間乾燥し、次いで40網目スクリーンを通過させた。3種の例示的な粉末ブレンドについての配合を表1に示す。
焼結された成形体を、従来法で粉末ブレンドをプレスして錠剤にすることにより製造した。立方晶窒化ホウ素は約20ミクロン未満の粒径を有していた。グラフェンは約2.0%未満の酸素含有量を有していた。錠剤を高圧セルに充填し、ベルトタイプの高圧高温(HPHT)装置でプレスし、約65kBarかつ約1500℃で約15分間焼結して成形体を製造した。幾つかの場合、焼結は約75kBar未満の圧力で約15〜30分の間実施することができる。他の幾つかの典型的な実施態様においては、焼結は約45kBarの圧力でかつ約1500℃の温度で約15〜30分の間実施することができる。
機械加工試験を行い、耐摩耗性及び破壊靭性を下に示すように評価した。

- 切削工具の製造における使用のための焼結された成形体であって、
約10vol%〜約90vol%の立方晶窒化ホウ素、及び
約0.1vol%〜約10vol%の単層又は複層のナノスケール材料を含む結合相、

- 前記立方晶窒化ホウ素が約20ミクロン未満の粒径を有する、請求項1に記載の焼結された成形体。
- 焼結が約75kBar未満の圧力で実施される、請求項1に記載の焼結された成形体。
- 前記焼結が約45kBarの圧力でかつ約1500℃の温度で約15〜30分の間実施される、請求項6に記載の焼結された成形体。
- 前記MXeneが、遷移金属のカーバイド又は炭窒化物を含む、請求項2に記載の焼結された成形体。
- 前記グラフェンが約2.0%未満の酸素含有量を有する、請求項2に記載の焼結された成形体。
- 切削工具の製造における使用のための焼結された成形体の製造方法であって、
約10vol%〜約90vol%の立方晶窒化ホウ素及び約0.1vol%〜約10vol%の単層又は複層のナノスケール材料を含む結合相を有する粉末ブレンドを混合する工程、
該粉末ブレンドをプレスして錠剤にする工程、及び
該錠剤を高圧かつ高温で焼結させる工程
を含む、方法。 - 前記単層又は複層のナノスケール材料がグラフェン、MXene、ホワイトグラフェンのうちの少なくとも1種を含む、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記粉末ブレンドが、
約30vol%〜約80vol%の立方晶窒化ホウ素、及び
約1vol%〜約3vol%のグラフェンを含む前記結合相、
を含む、請求項10に記載の方法。 - 前記結合相が、Al2O3、Si3N4、TiN、TiC、TiCNのうちの1種又は複数種をさらに含む、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記立方晶窒化ホウ素が約20ミクロン未満の粒径を有する、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 焼結が約75kBar未満の圧力で実施される、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記焼結が約45kBarの圧力でかつ約1500℃の温度で約30分の間実施される、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記グラフェンが約2.0%未満の酸素含有量を有する、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 切削工具の製造における使用のための焼結された成形体であって、
約10vol%〜約90vol%の立方晶窒化ホウ素、及び
約0.1vol%〜約10vol%の単層又は複層のナノスケール材料を含み、該単層又は複層のナノスケール材料が約2.0%未満の酸素含有量を有する、結合相、
を含む、焼結された成形体。 - 前記単層又は複層のナノスケール材料がグラフェン、MXene、ホワイトグラフェンのうちの少なくとも1種を含む、請求項18に記載の焼結された成形体。
- 前記MXeneが、遷移金属のカーバイド又は炭窒化物を含む、請求項18に記載の焼結された成形体。
