Abstract
【解決手段】マフラー10は、筒状に形成された本体部11の内部に消音装置20が挿入されて形成される巻型マフラーであって、消音装置20は、排気の出口側配管24に、軸方向に伸縮可能な伸縮部30を備え、消音装置20の伸縮部30を縮めた状態で、消音装置20が本体部11の内部に挿入された後に、消音装置20の伸縮部30が伸ばされることにより、出口側配管24の下流側端部24bが本体部11の外側に延出される。

Description
なお、本発明の技術的範囲は以下の実施例に限定されるものではなく、本明細書及び図面に記載した事項から明らかになる本発明が真に意図する技術的思想の範囲全体に、広く及ぶものである。
マフラー10における本体部11の内部は、第一セパレータ21及び第二セパレータ22により、排気の上流側(マフラー10における右側)から順に、第一拡張室R1、第二拡張室R2、及び、第三拡張室R3に分割される。
具体的には、入口側配管23は、上流側端部23aがマフラー10の前側の外部に位置しており、上流側端部23aから後方に延出して、前側蓋部12に開口された孔部を通じて第二拡張室R2内に進入している。さらに、入口側配管23は、第二拡張室R2内において約90度屈曲されて右側へ延出し、第一セパレータ21を貫通して下流側端部23bが第一拡張室R1内に進入している。このように、入口側配管23は、マフラー10の前側の外部と第一拡張室R1とを連通している。
また、出口側配管24は、上流側端部24aが第三拡張室R3に配置されており、上流側端部24aから右側へ延出して、第二セパレータ22及び第一セパレータ21を貫通している。さらに、出口側配管24は、マフラー10の右側に開口された孔部11c(図4(a)及び(b)を参照)を貫通して、下流側端部24bがマフラー10の右側の外部に延出している。このように、出口側配管24は、第三拡張室R3とマフラー10の右側の外部とを連通している。
出口側配管24の下流側端部24bには、排出パイプ25の上流側端部25aが接続される。排出パイプ25は約90度屈曲されてその下流側端部25bが後方に向かうように配置される。
まず、図2(a)に示す如く、板状部材Bに対して矢印Aに示す如く曲げ加工を行い、端部を突き合わせて溶接により接合し、管状部材Pを形成する。なお、管状部材Pの制作工程を省略し、汎用のシームレスパイプを管状部材Pとして使用することも可能である。

Claims (3)
- 筒状に形成した本体部の内部に消音装置を挿入する、巻型マフラーの製造方法であって、
前記消音装置は、排気の入口側配管、及び、排気の出口側配管のうち少なくとも何れか一方に、軸方向に伸縮可能な伸縮部を備え、
前記消音装置の前記伸縮部を縮めた状態で、前記消音装置を前記本体部の内部に挿入し、
その後、前記消音装置の前記伸縮部を伸ばすことにより、前記伸縮部を備える配管の先端部を前記本体部の外側に延出させる、ことを特徴とする、巻型マフラーの製造方法。 - 筒状に形成された本体部の内部に消音装置が挿入されて形成される巻型マフラーであって、
前記消音装置は、排気の入口側配管、及び、排気の出口側配管のうち少なくとも何れか一方に、軸方向に伸縮可能な伸縮部を備える、ことを特徴とする、巻型マフラー。 - 前記伸縮部は、縮めた際に凸部となる山折部と、縮めた際に凹部となる谷折部と、を備え、
前記山折部と前記谷折部とは、配管の周方向、及び軸方向に沿う方向に交互に配置されている、ことを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の巻型マフラー。
