Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様に係る蓄電装置用電極について、図1を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態においては、実施の形態1で説明した蓄電装置用電極の製造方法の一例について、図3を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1及び2で示した蓄電装置用電極を用いた種々の蓄電装置について、図4及び図5を参照して説明する。
図4(A)は、コイン型(単層偏平型)のリチウムイオン二次電池の外観図であり、部分的にその断面構造を併せて示した図である。
次に、ラミネート型の二次電池の一例について、図4(B)を参照して説明する。図4(B)では、説明の便宜上、部分的にその内部構造を露出して記載している。
次に、円筒型の二次電池の一例について、図5を参照して説明する。円筒型の二次電池480は図5(A)に示すように、上面に正極キャップ(電池蓋)481を有し、側面及び底面に電池缶(外装缶)482を有している。これら正極キャップと電池缶(外装缶)482とは、ガスケット(絶縁パッキン)490によって絶縁されている。
本実施の形態では、蓄電装置としてリチウムイオンキャパシタについて説明する。
本発明の一態様に係る蓄電装置は、様々な電気機器の電源として用いることができる。ここで電気機器とは、電気の力によって作用する部分を含む工業製品をいう。電気機器は、家電等の民生用に限られず、業務用、産業用、軍事用等、種々の用途のものを広くこの範疇とする。
次に、電気機器の一例として移動体の例について、図6(B)及び(C)を用いて説明する。
さらに、電気機器の一例として携帯情報端末の例について、図7を用いて説明する。
電極を作製するために、実施の形態2で示したように、最初にスラリーを作製した。まず、重量比8wt%のPVdF(ポリフッ化ビニリデン)を含有したNMP(N−メチル−2−ピロリドン)に平均粒径9μmの粒状の黒鉛を添加し、混練機により2000rpmで10分間攪拌・混合した。黒鉛2gに対して8wt%のPVdF/NMP溶液の量を2.78gとした。PVdFには、カルボキシル基が含有されている。その後、これにペルヒドロポリシラザン溶液を滴下し、さらに混練機により2000rpmで10分間の攪拌・混合を3度繰り返した。スラリーは、NMPを除いた重量比が、黒鉛:PVdF:酸化珪素=88:9.8:2.2となるように配合した。上記のスラリーの作製は、水分の浸入を防ぐためにドライルーム内で行った。
上記のようにして作製した電極Aの活物質層を、SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopeの略。走査型電子顕微鏡)及びTEM(Transmission Electron Microscopeの略。透過型電子顕微鏡)により観察した。図8に、上記のカルボキシル基を含む結着剤を用いた本発明の一態様に係る蓄電装置用電極の、活物質層のSEMによる表面観察結果を示す。また、図9及び図10にTEMによる当該活物質層の断面観察結果を、図11及び図12にEDX(Energy Dispersive X−Ray Spectroscopyの略。EDSともいう。エネルギー分散型X線分析)による当該活物質層の元素分析結果を示す。
次に、本発明に係る蓄電装置用電極の大量生産を想定し、電極Aに対して10倍量の電極を作製した。電極の塗工工程では、スラリーの粘度が塗工性能を左右する。このため、10倍量の電極の作製時には、PVdFの含有量の多い12wt%PVdF(ポリフッ化ビニリデン)/NMP(N−メチル−2−ピロリドン)溶液を用い、さらに追加するNMPの量でスラリーの粘度を調整できるようにした。すなわち、黒鉛20gに対して12wt%PVdF/NMP溶液の量を18.6gとし、追加するNMPの量を3.6gとしたスラリーを用いて、蓄電装置用電極を作製した。その他の作製条件については、電極Aと同様である。これにより作製した蓄電装置用電極を、以降電極Bとよぶ。
電極A及び電極Bとの比較のため、カルボキシル基を含まない結着剤を用いて被膜を形成した電極Cと、被膜を形成しない電極Dとを作製した。
次に、上述した電極A乃至電極Dをそれぞれフルセルに組み込み、そのサイクル特性を評価した。
電極を作製するために、実施の形態2で示したように、最初にスラリーを作製した。ペルヒドロポリシラザン溶液を滴下した後の撹拌・混合時間が異なる2条件のスラリーであるスラリーA及びスラリーBを作製した。
次に、平均粒径11μmの粒状の黒鉛を用いて実施の形態2に示した方法を用いて電極G,電極Hを作製した。この黒鉛は、電極E、電極Fの作製工程で示した黒鉛とは異なる。電極G及び電極Hはスラリー作製および塗工工程は同じ工程であり、乾燥工程が異なる。まず最初にスラリーを作製した。
電極E、電極F、電極G及び電極Hとの比較のため、被膜を形成しない電極J及び電極Kを作製した。黒鉛は、電極G及び電極Hの作製工程で示した黒鉛と同じものを用いた。また、電極Kは導電助剤としてカーボンナノファイバーを用いた。
次に、上述した電極E、電極F、電極G、電極H、電極J、電極Kをそれぞれフルセルに組み込み、そのサイクル特性を評価した。

Claims (6)
- 集電体と、
前記集電体上の、結着剤と活物質とを有する活物質層とを有し、
前記活物質の表面の少なくとも一部には、被膜が設けられ、
前記被膜は、海綿状であることを特徴とする蓄電装置用電極。 - 請求項1において、前記結着剤はカルボキシル基を有することを特徴とする蓄電装置用
電極。 - 請求項1又は2において、前記被膜はSi、O、C及びFを主成分として含有すること
を特徴とする蓄電装置用電極。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の蓄電装置用電極を有する蓄電装置。
- 請求項4に記載の蓄電装置を搭載した電気機器。
- カルボキシル基を有する結着剤と、活物質とを含む第1の混合物を形成し、
前記第1の混合物にポリシラザンを添加して第2の混合物を形成し、
前記第2の混合物を集電体の少なくとも一方の面上に形成し、
熱処理により前記第2の混合物を焼成するとともに、前記ポリシラザンを加水分解して
、前記活物質の表面の少なくとも一部を覆う被膜を形成し、
前記カルボキシル基は、前記第2の混合物を形成から前記被膜を形成する間に、前記ポ
リシラザンと反応して気体を発生することを特徴とする蓄電装置用電極の製造方法。
