【解決手段】燃料電池10を構成するセルユニット12は、第1電解質膜・電極構造体14、第1セパレータ16、第2電解質膜・電極構造体18及び第2セパレータ20を備える。第1及び第2電解質膜・電極構造体14、18は、外周に額縁部28a、28bを有し、前記額縁部28a、28bには、流体連通孔が積層方向に貫通形成される。額縁部28a、28bは、外周端部を周回して肉厚部28aa、28baを設けるとともに、前記肉厚部28aa、28baは、前記外周端部を除く他の部位に対して最も大きな厚さ寸法を有する。

Claims (2)
- 電解質の両側に一対の電極を配設した電解質・電極構造体を、第1セパレータ及び第2セパレータで挟持したセルユニットを備える燃料電池であって、
前記電解質・電極構造体の外周には、高分子材料で形成される枠部材が一体に設けられ、
前記枠部材には、反応ガス入口連通孔、反応ガス出口連通孔、冷却媒体入口連通孔及び冷却媒体出口連通孔を含む流体連通孔が積層方向に貫通して形成される一方、
前記積層方向に隣接する前記枠部材間には、前記流体連通孔及び反応面外周を周回して密封するシール部材が介装され、
前記第1セパレータ及び前記第2セパレータは、それぞれ外形が同一形状を有する2枚のプレートを備え、且つ前記第1セパレータ及び前記第2セパレータの外周端は、前記流体連通孔よりも内側に配置されるとともに、
前記枠部材は、少なくとも最外周又は前記流体連通孔の周囲に、厚さ方向に突出するリブ部を有することを特徴とする燃料電池。 - 請求項1記載の燃料電池において、前記セルユニットは、第1の前記電解質・電極構造体、前記第1セパレータ、第2の前記電解質・電極構造体及び前記第2セパレータを備え、
前記第1セパレータ及び前記第2セパレータは、それぞれ2枚の前記プレートを接合して構成されるとともに、
2枚の前記プレート間には、冷却媒体をセパレータ面方向に流通させる冷却媒体流路が形成されることを特徴とする燃料電池。
