Abstract
【解決手段】少なくとも一方が透明な一対の基板6,7と、一対の基板6,7間に配置された液晶層LCと、一対の基板6,7の少なくとも一方の基板に形成されて液晶層LCに電界を印加するための電極PX群と、を有し、液晶層LCは、少なくとも1種類の液晶性化合物と、少なくとも1種類のキラルドーパントとを含み、キラルドーパントの濃度cは、飽和溶解度sよりも低い値であって、キラルドーパントの濃度cとキラルドーパントの捩り力[HTP]とは、[HTP]・c≧5.5(μm−1)である関係を満たす、ことを特徴とする。

Description
本比較例では、実施例1の液晶表示パネル1において、液晶層LCの液晶材料のうち液晶に添加するキラルドーパントであるビナフチル誘導体の添加量が2.0(mol%)の液晶材料D、2.2(mol%)の液晶材料Eを用いた他は実施例1と同様にして液晶表示装置を作製した。このとき捩り力と溶解度の積はそれぞれ4.6と5.1であった。
本比較例では、実施例1の液晶表示パネル1において、液晶層LCの液晶材料のうち液晶に添加するキラルドーパントをZLI4572、5.0(mol%)とした他は実施例1と同様にして液晶表示装置を作製した。JC1041XXと5CBに添加したZLI4572の捩り力と濃度の積は3.9であり、捩り力と飽和溶解度の積である2.6よりも大きいことを確認した。

- 少なくとも一方が透明な一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板間に配置された液晶層と、
前記一対の基板の少なくとも一方の基板に形成されて前記液晶層に電界を印加するための電極群と、を有し、
前記液晶層は、少なくとも1種類の液晶性化合物と、少なくとも1種類のキラルドーパントとを含み、
前記キラルドーパントの濃度cは、飽和溶解度sよりも低い値であって、
前記キラルドーパントの濃度cと前記キラルドーパントの捩り力[HTP]とは、
[HTP]・c≧5.5(μm−1)である関係を満たす、
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記キラルドーパントの濃度cと前記キラルドーパントの捩り力[HTP]とは、
[HTP]・c≧6.0(μm−1)である関係を満たす、
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、
コントラストが2000以上であり、

ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 少なくとも一方が透明な一対の基板と、
