Abstract
【解決手段】行列形態に配列されている複数の画素であって、各画素が複数の副画素を有し、各副画素がスイッチング素子Qを有しているように構成された複数の画素と、副画素のひとつのスイッチング素子Qを通じて副画素のひとつに連結され、スイッチング素子Qを導通または遮断させるゲート信号を伝達する複数のゲート線Gnと、副画素の対応するひとつのスイッチング素子Qを通じて対応する副画素のひとつに連結され、データ電圧を伝達する複数のデータ線Dmとを含む。副画素は第1副画素対及び第2副画素対を有する。第1副画素対のそれぞれの副画素は、互いに隣接し、その間のゲート線Gnに接続され、第2副画素対のそれぞれの副画素は、互いに隣接し、それぞれ反対側のゲート線Gnに接続されている。駆動ICの構造を変更せずに任意の色相別反転を行うことができる。

であれば、二つの副画素の極性が反対である。
図3乃至図6は帯状構造の4色画素配置を示している。つまり、行方向に隣接した赤色、緑色、青色及び白色副画素で構成された画素が行方向、列方向に繰り返して配置されている形態である。

になる。図3では式(5)に示されている二つの接合副画素(PX1、PX1’)の三つの連結関係を各々1、2、3で表示した。各数字の位置は当該副画素がその位置に最も近いゲート線、データ線対と連結されることを意味する。

P(l)=P[(j+4)±1]=P(j±1)≠P(i、j)
であるので、データ駆動部500におけるドット反転と列反転に対して全て色相別反転が得られる。
P(k+l)=P[(i±1)+(j+4)]=P[(i+j)±1]≠P(i、j)、
P(l)=P[(j+4)]=P(j)
であるので、ドット反転に対しては色相別反転が得られるが、列反転に対しては色相別反転が不可能である。
P(k+l)=P[(i±1)+{(j+4)±1}]=P[(i+j)±1±1]=P(i、j)、
P(l)=P[(j+4)±1]=P(j±1)≠P(i、j)
であるので、列反転に対しては色相別反転が得られるが、ドット反転に対しては色相別反転が不可能である。
(k、l)=(i、(j+4)±1)又は(i±1、j+4) ・・・(6)
が要求され、列反転の場合には接合副画素が連結位置(1、3)に位置すること、つまり、
(k、l)=(i、(j+4)±1)又は(i±1、(j+4)±1) ・・・(7)
が要求される。
この場合には行方向に隣接した二つの副画素が同一データ線に連結されてはならない。
この場合は行方向にだけでなく、列方向にも内部副画素配列が異なる二つの画素が隣接している場合である。
図13乃至図18は碁盤構造の4色画素配置を示している。
k=i又はk=i±1、l=j+2又はl=(j+2)±1 ・・・(8)

(k、l)=(i±1、j+2)又は(i、j+2±1)の関係を充足しなければならない。これは二つの接合副画素が異なるゲート線、同一側データ線に連結されたり、同一ゲート線、異なる側のデータ線に連結されなければならないという意味である。
l=j+2±1
でなければならない。これは二つの接合副画素が異なるデータ線に連結されなければならないという意味である。
(k、l)=(i、j+2±1)
を充足する。
2.1及び2.2に提示した原則を拡張すれば4色画素構造だけでなくその他の多数色の画素構造で所望の多様な形態の反転を実現することができる。
Claims (12)
- 行列形態に配列されている複数の画素であって、各画素が複数の副画素を有し、各副画素がスイッチング素子を有しているように構成された複数の画素と、
前記副画素のひとつのスイッチング素子を通じて副画素のひとつに連結され、前記スイッチング素子を導通または遮断させるゲート信号を伝達する複数のゲート線と、
前記副画素の対応するひとつのスイッチング素子を通じて対応する副画素のひとつに連結され、データ電圧を伝達する複数のデータ線とを含み、
前記副画素は三原色と白色を表示し、
前記副画素のうち同一行にある隣り合う2つの画素において、同一色相を有する副画素に印加される電圧の極性は互いに異なり、
副画素は第1副画素対及び第2副画素対を有し、
前記第1副画素対のそれぞれの副画素は、互いに隣接し、その間のゲート線に接続され、
前記第2副画素対のそれぞれの副画素は、互いに隣接し、それぞれ反対側のゲート線に接続されている、
液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1副画素対及び第2副画素対は互いに隣接している、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 各副画素は第1側と、前記第1側に沿う第2側とを有し、
前記第1副画素対は、第1タイプ対及び第2タイプ対を有し、
前記第1タイプ対はその第1側に位置するデータ線に接続された上側副画素と、その第2側に配置されたデータ線に接続された下側副画素とを有し、
前記第2タイプ対はその第2側に配置されたデータ線に接続された上側副画素と、その第1側に配置されたデータ線に接続された下側副画素とを有する、
請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1副画素対に含まれる前記第1タイプ対と前記第2タイプ対とは、ひとつの列に交互に配置されている、請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2副画素対は、第1タイプ対及び第2タイプ対を有し、
前記第1タイプ対は、その第2側に位置するデータ線に接続された上側副画素及び下側副画素を有し、
前記第2タイプ対は、その第1側に配置されたデータ線に接続された上側副画素及び下側副画素を有する、
請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2副画素対の第1タイプ対及び第2タイプ対は交互に配置されている、請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記データ線を通じてデータ電圧を印加し、1×1ドット反転を行うデータ駆動部をさらに含む、請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記データ線を通じてデータ電圧を印加し、列反転を行うデータ駆動部をさらに含む、請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2副画素対は、第1タイプ対及び第2タイプ対を有し、
前記第1タイプ対は、その第1側に位置するデータ線に接続された上側副画素及びその第2側に位置するデータ線に接続された下側副画素を有し、
前記第2タイプ対は、その第2側に配置されたデータ線に接続された上側副画素及びその第1側に位置するデータ線に接続された下側副画素を有する、
請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2副画素対の第1タイプ対及び第2タイプ対は同一列内で交互に配置されている、請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記データ線を通じてデータ電圧を印加し、1×1ドット反転を行うデータ駆動部をさらに含む、請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記データ線を通じてデータ電圧を印加し、列反転を行うデータ駆動部をさらに含む、請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。
