Abstract
【解決手段】供給路44、圧力室46、及び吐出ノズル40の各部分からなる流体吐出モジュール12の圧力室46の壁面に設けられた圧電素子48に電圧を印加して、電圧−電流位相差を測定し、印加電圧の周波数と測定した位相差とから周波数−位相差特性を得る(300)。この周波数−位相差特性と、流体吐出モジュール12の電気的特性を示す第1の等価回路とに基づいて、各部分に対応する抵抗分を算出する(306、324、342)。この抵抗分は、流体吐出モジュールの音響特性を示す第2の等価回路の音響抵抗分に対応しており、音響抵抗は、各部分内のインク液の粘度に対応している。算出した抵抗分の値、すなわち粘度に応じて定められたメンテナンス処理を行う(314、316、332、334、348、350)。

Claims (11)
- 圧電素子が設けられた壁面と吐出ノズルが穿設された壁面とによって一部分が形成された圧力室、及び該圧力室の内部に流体を供給する供給路の各々を複数備え、周期的に変化する電圧が前記圧電素子の各々に印加された際の前記圧力室内部の圧力の変化に応じて、前記供給路を介して各圧力室に供給された流体を前記吐出ノズルの各々から吐出させる流体吐出モジュールと、
前記圧電素子に印加する電圧と該電圧を印加したときの前記流体吐出モジュールに流れる電流との位相差またはアドミタンスを測定する測定手段と、
前記測定手段で測定した前記位相差またはアドミタンスに基づいて、前記供給路の抵抗分、前記圧力室の抵抗分、及び前記吐出ノズルの抵抗分の複数の抵抗分を要素として含む前記流体吐出モジュールの電気的特性を示す第1の等価回路であって、前記複数の抵抗分の各々が、前記供給路内の流体の粘度、前記圧力室内の流体の粘度、及び前記吐出ノズル内の流体の粘度の各々の大きさに応じて定まる複数の音響抵抗を要素として含む前記流体吐出モジュールの音響特性を示す第2の等価回路における前記複数の音響抵抗の各々に対応する前記第1の等価回路における少なくとも1つの抵抗分を算出する抵抗分算出手段と、
前記抵抗分算出手段で算出した少なくとも1つの抵抗分に基づいて、前記流体吐出モジュール内の流体の粘度を低下させるための処理を行う処理手段と、
を含む液滴吐出装置。 - 前記抵抗分算出手段は、複数の周波数の電圧を各々印加したときに前記測定手段で測定された周波数毎の前記位相差またはアドミタンスを示す実測値と、前記第1の等価回路に基づいて定まる前記複数の周波数の各々に対応した周波数毎の位相差またはアドミタンスを示す理論値との差の2乗和の総和が予め定めたしきい値以下になる抵抗分を、前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分として算出する請求項1記載の液滴吐出装置。
- 前記抵抗分算出手段は、ピーク値となる前記位相差またはアドミタンスを用いて前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分を算出する請求項1記載の液滴吐出装置。
- 前記抵抗分算出手段は、予め定めた周波数の電圧を印加した状態で前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分を算出する請求項1記載の液滴吐出装置。
- 前記処理手段は、前記流体吐出モジュール内の前記流体を予備吐出させる処理、前記流体吐出モジュール内の前記流体を加圧して押し出す処理、または前記流体を吸引する処理を行う請求項1〜請求項5のいずれか1項記載の液滴吐出装置。
- 前記抵抗分算出手段は、前記液滴吐出装置の起動時において、前記供給路の抵抗分を算出し、算出した前記供給路の抵抗分の値が予め定めた値より大きい場合には、算出した前記供給路の抵抗分を前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分とし、算出した前記供給路の抵抗分の値が予め定めた値より小さい場合には、前記圧力室の抵抗分を算出し、算出した前記圧力室の抵抗分の値が予め定めた値より大きい場合には、算出した前記圧力室の抵抗分を前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分とし、算出した前記圧力室の抵抗分の値が予め定めた値より小さい場合には、前記吐出ノズルの抵抗分を、前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分として算出し、
前記処理手段は、予備吐出または吸引する前記流体の量が、前記抵抗分算出手段で前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分として算出された抵抗分が前記供給路の抵抗分の場合、前記圧力室の抵抗分の場合、及び前記吐出ノズルの抵抗分の場合の順に多くなるようにする
請求項6記載の液滴吐出装置。 - 前記抵抗分算出手段は、印字中において、算出した前記圧力室の抵抗分の値が予め定めた値より大きい場合には、算出した前記圧力室の抵抗分を前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分とし、算出した前記圧力室の抵抗分の値が予め定めた値より小さい場合には、前記吐出ノズルの抵抗分を、前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分として算出し、
前記処理手段は、予備吐出または吸引する前記流体の量が、前記抵抗分算出手段で前記少なくとも1つの抵抗分として算出された抵抗分が前記圧力室の抵抗分の場合、及び前記吐出ノズルの抵抗分の場合の順に多くなるようにする
請求項6または請求項7記載の液滴吐出装置。 - 前記抵抗分算出手段は、印字前に前記抵抗分を算出し、
前記処理手段は、前記抵抗分算出手段で算出した前記抵抗分に基づいて、印字中に予備吐出または吸引する前記流体の量を、印字前に予め決定する
請求項6または請求項7記載の液滴吐出装置。 - 前記測定手段は、前記処理手段による処理の後、再度前記位相差またはアドミタンスを測定する請求項1〜請求項9のいずれか1項記載の液滴吐出装置。
- コンピュータを、
圧電素子が設けられた壁面と吐出ノズルが穿設された壁面とによって一部分が形成された圧力室、及び該圧力室の内部に流体を供給する供給路の各々を複数備え、周期的に変化する電圧が前記圧電素子の各々に印加された際の前記圧力室内部の圧力の変化に応じて、前記供給路を介して各圧力室に供給された流体を前記吐出ノズルの各々から吐出させる流体吐出モジュールとの前記圧電素子に印加する電圧と該電圧を印加したときの前記流体吐出モジュールに流れる電流との位相差またはアドミタンスを測定する測定手段で測定した前記位相差またはアドミタンスに基づいて、前記供給路の抵抗分、前記圧力室の抵抗分、及び前記吐出ノズルの抵抗分の複数の抵抗分を要素として含む前記流体吐出モジュールの電気的特性を示す第1の等価回路であって、前記複数の抵抗分の各々が、前記供給路内の流体の粘度、前記圧力室内の流体の粘度、及び前記吐出ノズル内の流体の粘度の各々の大きさに応じて定まる複数の音響抵抗を要素として含む前記流体吐出モジュールの音響特性を示す第2の等価回路における前記複数の音響抵抗の各々に対応する前記第1の等価回路における少なくとも1つの抵抗分を算出する抵抗分算出手段と、
前記抵抗分算出手段で算出した少なくとも1つの抵抗分に基づいて、前記流体吐出モジュール内の流体の粘度を低下させるための処理を処理手段により行うように制御する手段と、
