Abstract
【解決手段】
第1及び第2の近接場光発生部8A,8Bにレーザ光などのエネルギー線LBが照射されると、双方の近接場光発生部8A,8Bの先端で近接場光が発生する。発生した近接場光によって、媒体対向面に対向する磁気記録媒体が加熱され、磁気記録媒体の保持力が低下する。主磁極6Aの少なくとも一部が第1及び第2の近接場光発生部8A,8Bの間の領域を含むスポット領域LS内に位置しているので、双方の近接場光発生部8A,8Bの先端と主磁極6Aは極めて近接し、高密度の記録が可能となる。

Claims (5)
- 熱アシスト磁気ヘッドにおいて、
媒体対向面上で離隔して配置された第1及び第2の近接場光発生部と、
前記第1及び第2の近接場光発生部の間に少なくとも一部分が位置する主磁極と、
を備えることを特徴とする熱アシスト磁気ヘッド。 - 前記第1近接場光発生部と前記第2の近接場光発生部との間の領域に、エネルギー線を照射する発光素子を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の熱アシスト磁気ヘッド。
- 前記第1及び第2の近接場光発生部が先端面に設けられるコアと、前記コアの周囲に設けられたクラッドとを備え、
前記主磁極は、前記コアに最深部が位置する溝内に設けられ、
前記溝の両側面に隣接して前記第1及び第2の近接場光発生部がそれぞれ位置する、
ことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の熱アシスト磁気ヘッド。 - 前記主磁極内に磁束を通すための情報書き込み用コイルを更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の熱アシスト磁気ヘッド。
- 熱アシスト磁気ヘッドの製造方法において、
クラッド上にコアを形成する工程と、
前記コア上に金属層を形成する工程と、
前記金属層上にスリットパターンを有するマスクを形成する工程と、
前記マスクを介して、前記スリットパターン直下の前記コア内に到達するまで、前記金属層及び前記コアをエッチングする工程と、
前記エッチングによって形成された溝内に絶縁層を形成する工程と、
前記溝内の前記絶縁層上に主磁極となる磁性材料を形成する工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする熱アシスト磁気ヘッドの製造方法。
