Description
Claims (19)
- その側壁に比較的大きな直径のポートを有し、約150psig(約1.03MPa)以上の内圧で動作可能な、フィラメント巻き円筒状圧力容器を作製する方法であって、
(a)前記圧力容器の所望の内径の円筒状表面を有するマンドレルを提供し、前記マンドレルをその軸の周りで回転させるステップと、
(b)フィラメント状材料の複数の樹脂含浸平行ストランドのバンドを、張力下で、前記マンドレルの直径の少なくとも約2倍の規定された軸方向長さを有する領域で前記マンドレルの周りに螺旋状に巻着させて複数の補強層を生み出すことによって、管状の補強ベルトを作り出すステップとを含んでおり、前記補強層それぞれは、前記ベルトの前記規定された軸方向長さ領域の表面全体を実質的に完全に覆っており、前記方法は、さらに、
(c)次いで、実質的に完全な1つよりも多くの全体的な外層を提供するために、前記管状補強ベルトおよび前記マンドレルの残りの部分の上に、張力下でフィラメント状材料の樹脂含浸平行ストランドのバンドを螺旋状に巻き上げるステップを含んでおり、前記外層それぞれは、目的とする圧力容器の少なくとも長さにわたって延びており、前記方法は、さらに、
(d)フィラメント状材料の前記ストランドが張力下で巻着されたまま、前記層状構造を硬化させて前記マンドレル上で固めるステップと、
(e)前記硬化された圧力容器を前記マンドレルから取り外すステップと、
(f)前記補強ベルト内で前記圧力容器の側壁に少なくとも1つの孔部を切削するステップと、
(g)前記孔部内に側部ポートを据え付けるステップとを含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記バンドは、前記補強ベルトおよび前記巻き上げられた全体的な層それぞれの前記螺旋状巻着中に樹脂浴内を牽引される、フィラメント状材料の前記ストランド少なくとも約20本を含んでおり、前記ストランドは、前記層それぞれを巻着させる際には少なくとも約8cmの幅を有するバンドとして前記回転マンドレルに適用され、前記ストランドは、前記補強ベルトを巻着させる際には前記外層よりも幅が狭いバンドとして適用され、前記補強ベルトの各層は、その表面を実質的に完全に覆うように前記マンドレルの前記規定された軸方向長さに沿って複数のパスを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- フィラメント状材料の前記平行ストランドは、前記外層の場合には約50°から60°の間の巻着角度で回転マンドレル上に牽引され、前記巻き上げるステップは、少なくとも2つの前記外層を作り出すように実施されることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- 前記ストランドは、前記補強ベルトの実質的に完全な層それぞれを作り出すために、合計少なくとも5つのパスについて少なくとも約55°の巻着角度で牽引されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記補強ベルトは、それぞれが前の層よりも短い軸方向長さを有する少なくとも7つの実質的に完全な層を使用して構築され、前記ストランドは、約57°の角度で牽引されることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記マンドレルは、少なくとも約20cmの外径を有しており、前記補強ベルトは、少なくとも約44cmの軸方向長さを有しており、前記孔部は、直径が約7cm以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 2つの前記孔部は、互いに対して180°で前記圧力容器の前記補強ベルト内で前記側壁に切削されることを特徴とする請求項1または6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記樹脂は、エポキシ樹脂であり、前記硬化は、約80℃から約150℃の間の温度で少なくとも約4時間にわたってフィラメントが巻着された前記マンドレルを加熱することによって実施され、前記樹脂および巻き上げられたフィラメント状材料の前記いくつかの層は、その中で800psig(約5.52MPa)を保持するのに容認可能な評価を有する圧力容器を提供するのに十分であることを特徴とする請求項1または6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 最も内側の実質的に完全な層が前記マンドレルの周りに巻着された後で、それらの上に前記補強ベルトが巻着されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ストランドは、前記外層、前記補強ベルト、および前記最内層の全体を通じて連続的であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記ストランドは、少なくとも約2lb(約0.907kg)の張力で前記マンドレル上に牽引され、前記纏着させるステップの終わりに、少なくとも約75°の角度で少なくとも1つの円周フープラップ(circumferential hoop wrap)を使用して縛着されることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の方法。
- その側壁に比較的大きな直径のポートを有し、約150psig(約1.03MPa)以上の内圧で動作可能な、フィラメント巻き円筒状圧力容器を作製する方法であって、
(a)前記圧力容器の所望の内径の円筒状表面を有するマンドレルを提供し、前記マンドレルをその軸の周りで回転させるステップと、
(b)表面全体を実質的に完全に覆い、かつ目的とする圧力容器の少なくとも長さの軸方向長さにわたって延びる最内層を作り出すために、フィラメント状材料の樹脂含浸平行ストランドのバンドを、張力下で前記マンドレルの周りに螺旋状に巻着させるステップと、
(c)フィラメント状材料の複数の樹脂含浸平行ストランドのバンドを、張力下で、前記マンドレルの直径の少なくとも約2倍の軸方向長さを有する領域で前記マンドレルの周りに螺旋状に巻着させて少なくとも5つの補強層を生み出すことによって、管状の補強ベルトを作り出すステップとを含んでおり、前記補強層それぞれは、前記マンドレルの規定された環状領域の表面全体を実質的に完全に覆っており、前記方法は、さらに、
(d)次いで、実質的に完全な1つよりも多くの外層を提供するために、前記補強ベルトおよび前記マンドレルの残りの部分の上に、張力下でフィラメント状材料の樹脂含浸平行ストランドのバンドを螺旋状に巻き上げるステップを含んでおり、前記外層それぞれは、目的とする圧力容器の少なくとも長さにわたって延びており、前記方法は、さらに、
(e)フィラメント状材料の前記ストランドが張力下で巻着されたまま、前記層状構造を硬化させて前記マンドレル上で固めるステップと、
(f)前記硬化された圧力容器を前記マンドレルから取り外すステップと、
(g)前記補強ベルト内で前記圧力容器の側壁に少なくとも1つの孔部を切削するステップと、
(h)前記孔部内に側部ポートを据え付けるステップとを含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記ストランドは、前記外層、前記補強ベルト、および前記最内層の全体を通じて連続的であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記ストランドは、少なくとも約2lb(約0.907kg)の張力で前記マンドレル上に牽引され、前記纏着させるステップの終わりに、少なくとも約75°の角度で少なくとも1つの円周フープラップを使用して縛着されることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の方法。
- その側壁に少なくとも1つの大きなポートを有するフィラメント巻き円筒状圧力容器であって、その軸方向長さの大部分にわたって延び、かつ少なくとも約20cmの一定の内径をもつ円筒状の内部表面を有する管状の本体を含んでおり、
前記管状の本体の側壁部分は、(a)前記管状の本体の端から端まで延びる、フィラメント状材料の樹脂含浸ストランドの螺旋状に巻着されたバンドの最内層と、(b)前記最内層の外表面の軸方向部分に沿って位置する、張力下で螺旋状に巻着されたバンドの実質的に完全な複数の補強層によって形成される環状の補強ベルトとを含んでおり、前記ベルトの軸方向長さは、少なくとも約40cmであり、前記管状の本体の側壁部分は、さらに、(c)フィラメント状材料の樹脂含浸ストランドの螺旋状に巻着されたバンドから形成される、少なくとも第1および第2の実質的に完全な外層を含んでおり、前記第1の層は、前記補強ベルトおよび前記最内層の外表面上に配置されており、両方の前記外層は、前記管状の本体の長さにわたって延びており、
前記層は、すべて、前記ストランドを含浸させる前記樹脂の固化がほぼ同時に起こる結果として互いに一体的に接合されており、
前記圧力容器の側壁を貫く少なくとも1つの孔部は、前記補強ベルト内に位置しており、
直径約7cm以上の側部ポートは、前記孔部内に配置されており、前記容器は、約150psig(約1.03MPa)以上の内圧で動作可能であることを特徴とする圧力容器。 - 前記補強層を構成する前記バンドそれぞれは、フィラメント状材料の前記ストランド少なくとも約20本を含み、少なくとも7.6cmの幅を有しており、前記補強ベルトは、少なくとも約7つの実質的に完全な補強層を含むことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の圧力容器。
- 1つの前記補強ベルトは、前記圧力容器の各端部の近くに位置しており、前記補強ベルトそれぞれは、少なくとも約44cmにわたって延びることを特徴とする請求項16に記載の圧力容器。
- 互いに対して180°で前記補強ベルト内で前記側壁を貫く前記孔部2つが存在することを特徴とする請求項15から17のいずれか一項に記載の圧力容器。
- フィラメント状材料の前記ストランドは、前記外層、前記補強層、および前記最内層の全体を通じて連続的であり、少なくとも約2lb(約0.907kg)の張力が加えられており、少なくとも約75°の角度で少なくとも1つの円周フープラップによって前記管状の本体の一端に縛着されることを特徴とする請求項15から17のいずれか一項に記載の圧力容器。
