Abstract
【解決手段】内燃機関1の排気系に設置された排気浄化触媒装置5よりも上流側に二次空気を供給する二次空気供給系60と、二次空気温度を推定し、この推定結果に基づいて二次空気供給後の排気温度を推定するECU20とを備え、ECU20は、排気温度の推定結果に応じて、二次空気供給系60の二次空気の供給を開始又は禁止する。

Description
従って、排気浄化触媒の温度が低いときには、新気を排気ポート側に流すことによって、排気中に含まれる有害成分を再燃焼させて排気浄化触媒の活性化を促進し、有害成分の排出の低減を図る二次空気供給装置が知られている(特許文献1及び2参照)。
この構成により、二次空気温度を考慮して二次空気供給後の排気温度を推定し、この推定された排気温度に基づいて、二次空気の供給が開始又は禁止されるので、二次空気供給後の排気温度が低すぎることによる、未燃燃料が大気へ排出される恐れを防止できる。
この構成により、二次空気温度を推定することができるので、二次空気の温度を検出するためのセンサを設ける必要はない。
内燃機関1は、4つのシリンダ30を有する4サイクル・ガソリン機関であり、各シリンダ30のピストンの上方には、ピストンの頂面とシリンダヘッド1aの壁面とに囲まれた燃焼室が形成されている。また、吸気系40、排気系50、二次空気供給系60を備えている。
内燃機関1では、始動時等であって内燃機関1の温度が低い条件(冷間時)において運転をする場合、燃料噴射弁を通じて燃焼室内に供給する燃料の量を増量し、機関燃焼の安定化、暖機の促進を図るのが一般的である。ところが、燃料量を増量して混合気をリッチ化すれば、排気中の未燃燃料(HC、CO等)が増えることになる。その上、冷間時には排気浄化装置の温度が低く、触媒が充分に活性化していない。

Claims (2)
- 内燃機関の排気系に設置された排気浄化触媒よりも上流側に二次空気を供給する二次空気供給手段と、
二次空気温度を推定する二次空気温度推定手段と、
前記二次空気温度推定手段の推定結果に基づいて二次空気供給後の排気温度を推定する排気温推定手段とを備え、
前記二次空気供給手段は、前記排気温推定手段の推定結果に応じて、二次空気の供給を開始又は禁止する、ことを特徴とする内燃機関の二次空気供給装置。 - 前記二次空気温度推定手段は、吸気温度、機関冷却水の温度のうち少なくとも一つに基づいて、二次空気温度を推定する、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の二次空気供給装置。
