Abstract
【解決手段】転写定着ローラ(像担持体)22と加圧ローラ(加圧部材)24とを押し当てて転写定着ニップNを形成し、転写定着ローラで担持するトナー像をハロゲンヒータ(加熱手段)21で加熱して後、転写定着ニップを通過する転写材Pに転写と同時に定着する。そのような転写定着装置20において、トナーの軟化点をTm[℃]とするとき、転写定着ローラで担持するトナー像のトナー温度が、Tm+10[℃]以下になるように、ハロゲンヒータの加熱温度を設定する一方、転写定着ニップに転写電界を形成する電界形成手段25を備えてなる。

1)転写材に接触できない部分のトナーが残留する現象
2)残留したトナーの像担持体上への固着現象
図6〜8は、像担持体上に形成したトナーが転写定着ニップにて転写材と接触して転写材に転写定着され、その後、像担持体と転写材が離れる様子を、転写定着ニップ部分にて拡大して示したものである。図6には、画像として均一なベタ画像を転写定着した場合を示し、図7、8には、孤立したドットのような画像を転写定着した場合を示し、図8には、図7より像担持体の硬度を下げ、像担持体と転写材の加圧度合いを大きくした場合を示す。
中間転写体、転写定着体などの像担持体と加圧ローラなどの加圧部材とを押し当てて転写定着ニップを形成し、像担持体で担持するトナー像をハロゲンヒータ等の加熱手段で加熱して後、転写定着ニップを通過する用紙、OHPフィルムなどの転写材に転写と同時に定着する転写定着装置において、
トナーの軟化点をTm[℃]とするとき、像担持体で担持するトナー像のトナー温度が、Tm+10[℃]以下になるように、加熱手段の加熱温度を設定する一方、
転写定着ニップに転写電界を形成する電界形成手段を備えてなることを特徴とする。
図1には、タンデム方式の画像形成装置の一例である電子写真式カラー複写機で、その要部の概略構成を示す。
<詳細条件>
像担持体 :以下の3層構造からなるベルト部材
70μmポリイミド樹脂(基層)
500μmシリコンゴム(弾性層)
10μmPTFE(表層)
加圧部材 :芯金としてΦ40mm金属ローラを用いたローラ部材
トナー:ポリエステル樹脂ベース
トナー帯電量:−10〜−50μC/mg
トナー熱特性:軟化点75℃、流出開始温度100℃、1/2流出温度130℃
加熱手段 :加圧部材に対向する像担持体張架ローラ内にハロゲンヒータを設置
加熱温度 :転写定着ニップ入口温度=170℃
転写材 :普通紙(80g/cm3相当)
転写電界印加手段:加圧部材側にバイアス印加(+0.5kV〜+4.0kV)
対向する像担持体張架ローラはアース接地
チャート :2by2ドット画像(600dpi)
加熱状態ではファラデーケージにトナーを吸引する方法が利用できないため、トナー層の帯電量を耐熱仕様の表面電位計プローブにより読み取って代用特性とした。ただし、表面電位を特性値とする場合、加熱による誘電率の変化を考慮しなければならないため、加熱状態で帯電量を測定した後に、そのままの状態で自然冷却させて再度測定し、加熱時と冷却時で測定値に差がでなかったこと(すなわち、加熱しながらの測定値がトナーの帯電電荷量の推移を代用していること)を確認した。

Claims (6)
- 像担持体と加圧部材とを押し当てて転写定着ニップを形成し、前記像担持体で担持するトナー像を加熱手段で加熱して後、前記転写定着ニップを通過する転写材に転写と同時に定着する転写定着装置において、
トナーの軟化点をTm[℃]とするとき、前記像担持体で担持するトナー像のトナー温度が、Tm+10[℃]以下になるように、前記加熱手段の加熱温度を設定する一方、
前記転写定着ニップに転写電界を形成する電界形成手段を備えてなることを特徴とする転写定着装置。 - 転写材が前記転写定着ニップに突入する前に、転写材を予備加熱する予備加熱手段を備えてなることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の転写定着装置。
- 前記予備加熱手段が、転写材を搬送する搬送手段を兼ねることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の転写定着装置。
- 転写材が前記転写定着ニップを通過して後に、転写材上の転写定着画像を加熱する補助加熱手段を備えてなることを特徴とする、請求項1ないし3のいずれか1に記載の転写定着装置。
- 請求項1ないし4のいずれか1に記載の転写定着装置を備えてなることを特徴とする画像形成装置。
- 前記像担持体が、中間転写体上のトナー像を転写することによりトナー像を担持する転写定着体であることを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の画像形成装置。
