Abstract
Description
一態様において、本発明は、形状記憶ポリマーを備えた先端部分等の部分を有するカテーテルを特徴とする。カテーテルは、第1の形状にて目的部位(例えば、動脈瘤付近)へ搬送され、目的部位においてカテーテルの同部分は、第2の異なる形状に変化する。例えば、カテーテルは直線姿勢の先端部分を備えて搬送され、次に、その先端部分は屈曲形状へ変化して、血管閉塞器具を動脈瘤内へ円滑に搬送する。
実施例は以下の特徴の1つ又は複数を含むことが可能である。第1の部分は、管状部材の先端部分であり、或いは、管状部材の最先端部分である。第1の部分は、さらに磁気効果により加熱され易い材料を有する。管状部材は、形状記憶ポリマーとは異なるポリマーを含む本体を有する。本体の端部は第1の部分の端部に連結される。第1の部分は本体の一部を取り囲む。
第1の部分は、放射線不透過性材料、磁気共鳴映像法により観察可能な材料、及び/又は、超音波による造影剤を含んでいてもよい。
他の態様においては、本発明はワイヤを特徴とし、同ワイヤはその先端等の一部を覆う形状記憶ポリマーからなるコーティングを有する。
(例1)
以下の例は、形状記憶ポリマーのブレンドであるポリシクロオクテン/スチレンブタジエンゴムのブレンドを含む部分を有するカテーテルの形成方法を示す。ポリシクロオクテンや形状記憶ポリマーのブレンドは、2003年10月10日付けで出願された、米国特許出願第10/683559号明細書(発明の名称:架橋されたポリシクロオクテン(Crosslinked Polycyclooctene)及び同特許出願第10/683558号明細書(発明の名称:形状記憶性を有する非晶質及び半結晶質ポリマーのブレンド(Blends of Amorphous and Semicrystalline Polymers Having Shape Memory Properties)に記載されている。
さらに、カテーテルが、湾曲状(例えば、J形状)や直線状に成形された。成形マンドレルはカテーテルのルーメン内に配置された。
形状記憶ポリマー溶液が、500mlのキシレン内に、15グラムのポリノルボルネン(例えば、商標Norsorex(ミツビシ(Mitsubishi)より販売)と、3グラムのクラトン1650G(商標Kraton(ジーエルエス社(GLS Corp)より販売))とを溶解して用意された。この溶液は70°Cまで加熱され、かくはん板上で低設定(約50rpm)により30分間かくはんされた。
直線状のカテーテルは、体温より高い温度(例えば、45−50°C)に加熱されると、その湾曲形状に戻ることができる。

Claims (24)
- 形状記憶ポリマーからなる第1の部分を有する管状部材を備える医療用カテーテル。
- 前記第1の部分は前記管状部材の先端部分である請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記第1の部分は前記管状部材の最先端部分である請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記形状記憶ポリマーは、ポリノルボルネン、ポリカプロラクトン、ポリシクロオクテン、ポリシクロオクテン/スチレンブタジエンのブレンド、及びポリビニルアセテート/ポリビニルイジネフルオライドから選択された材料からなる請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記第1の部分は、磁気効果により加熱され易い材料をさらに備える請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記管状部材は、形状記憶ポリマーとは異なるポリマーからなる本体を有する請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記本体の端部は、前記第1の部分の端部に連結される請求項6に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記第1の部分は前記本体の一部を取り囲む請求項6に記載のカテーテル。
- 5フレンチ(約1.67mm)又はそれよりも小径からなる請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記第1の部分は放射線不透過性材料をさらに備える請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記第1の部分は磁気共鳴映像法により観察できる材料をさらに備える請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記第1の部分は超音波造影剤をさらに備える請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 第1の形状にある先端部分を有するカテーテルを目的部位へ案内する工程と、
同先端部分を第1の形状から第2の形状へ変化させる工程とからなる方法。 - 前記先端部分を変化させる工程は、同先端部分を加熱する工程を含む請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記先端部分を変化させる工程は、同先端部分に高周波エネルギーを付与する工程を含む請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記先端部分は前記カテーテルの最先端部分である請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記目的部位は動脈瘤の基端側である請求項13に記載の方法。
- 医療器具に前記カテーテル内を通過させる工程をさらに含む請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記医療器具は血管閉塞器具である請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーは体内で吸収されない請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記ポリマーは体内で吸収される請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 形状記憶ポリマーを含み、第1の形状にある先端部分を有するカテーテルを、体内へ挿入するに先立って形成する工程と、
