Abstract
【解決手段】 内燃機関は、排気弁12のリフト・作動角を可変制御するリフト・作動角可変機構1と、排気弁12のリフト中心角の位相を可変制御する位相可変機構2と、リフト・作動角可変機構1及び位相可変機構2の現在の作動位置を検出する第1位置検出センサ58と第2位置検出センサ59を備え、リフト・作動角可変機構1と位相可変機構2のうちのどちらか一方が故障した際に、筒内残留ガス量が最小となる方向に、リフト・作動角可変機構1と位相可変機構2のうち故障していない可変機構を制御することを特徴としている。これによって、リフト・作動角可変機構1と位相可変機構2のうちの一方が故障した際に、筒内残留ガスが増大して燃焼安定性が悪化してしまうことを回避することができる。

Description
(1) 内燃機関は、排気弁のリフト・作動角を機関運転状態に応じて可変制御するリフト・作動角可変機構と、排気弁のリフト中心角の位相を機関運転状態に応じて可変制御する位相可変機構と、リフト・作動角可変機構及び位相可変機構の現在の作動位置を検出する位置検出手段とを備え、リフト・作動角可変機構と位相可変機構のうちのどちらか一方が故障した際に、筒内残留ガス量が最小となる方向に、リフト・作動角可変機構と位相可変機構のうち故障していない可変機構を制御する。これによって、リフト・作動角可変機構と位相可変機構のうちの一方が故障した際に、筒内残留ガスが増大して燃焼安定性が悪化してしまうことを回避することができる。

Claims (6)
- 排気弁のリフト・作動角を機関運転状態に応じて可変制御するリフト・作動角可変機構と、排気弁のリフト中心角の位相を機関運転状態に応じて可変制御する位相可変機構と、リフト・作動角可変機構及び位相可変機構の現在の作動位置を検出する位置検出手段とを備え、リフト・作動角可変機構と位相可変機構のうちのどちらか一方が故障した際に、筒内残留ガス量が最小となる方向に、リフト・作動角可変機構と位相可変機構のうち故障していない可変機構を制御することを特徴とする内燃機関。
- 排気弁のリフト・作動角を機関運転状態に応じて可変制御するリフト・作動角可変機構と、排気弁のリフト中心角の位相を機関運転状態に応じて可変制御する位相可変機構と、リフト・作動角可変機構及び位相可変機構の現在の作動位置を検出する位置検出手段とを備え、リフト・作動角可変機構と位相可変機構のうちのどちらか一方が故障した際に、排気弁閉時期の上死点からの進角量が所定量以下となるように、リフト・作動角可変機構と位相可変機構のうち故障していない可変機構を制御することを特徴とする内燃機関。
- 位相可変機構が、排気弁のリフト中心角の位相を相対的に進角させた状態で固着した場合、排気弁閉時期の上死点からの進角量が所定量以下となるような所定値に排気弁のバルブリフト量を固定することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の内燃機関。
- 位相可変機構が、排気弁のリフト中心角の位相を相対的に進角させた状態で固着した場合、排気弁閉時期の上死点からの進角量が所定量以下となるような第1可変域内で排気弁のバルブリフト量を可変制御することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の内燃機関。
- リフト・作動角可変機構が、排気弁のバルブリフト量を相対的に小リフト側とした状態で固着した場合、排気弁閉時期の上死点からの進角量が所定量以下となるように排気弁のリフト中心角の位相を遅角し固定することを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の内燃機関。
- リフト・作動角可変機構が、排気弁のバルブリフト量を相対的に小リフト側とした状態で固着した場合、排気弁閉時期の上死点からの進角量が所定量以下となるような第2可変域内で、排気弁のリフト中心角の位相を可変制御することを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の内燃機関。
