Abstract
【解決手段】本発明によるプラズマ表示装置において、プラズマ表示パネルの温度が常温より低い場合、維持期間の第1期間で、維持電極と近く形成されるアドレス電極の壁電圧を消去する波形を印加する。このようにすれば、低温で対向放電が充分に起こらないプラズマ表示装置の特性によって直前のサブフィールドで維持放電が起こった放電セルに対し、初期化を遂行する補助リセットを有するサブフィールドでアドレス放電が充分に起こらないために発生する低放電を防止することができる。

Claims (13)
- 複数の第1電極と複数の第2電極、及び前記第1電極と第2電極に交差する方向に形成される複数の第3電極を含むプラズマ表示パネルを駆動する方法において、
一つのフレームを、各々リセット期間、アドレス期間、及び維持期間を含む複数のサブフィールドに分けて駆動し、
前記維持期間で、
維持放電のために、前記第1電極と前記第2電極に第1電圧を有する複数の維持放電パルスを交互に印加する段階、及び
前記維持期間中の第1期間で、前記第2電極と近く形成される前記第3電極の壁電圧を消去する消去波形を印加する段階
を含むプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 複数の第1電極と複数の第2電極、及び前記第1電極と第2電極に交差する方向に形成される複数の第3電極を含み、維持期間の間、前記第1電極及び第2電極に交互に維持放電パルスを印加するプラズマ表示パネルを駆動する方法において、
a)前記プラズマ表示パネルの温度を感知する段階、及び
b)前記感知された温度が常温より低い場合、前記維持期間の第1期間で、前記第2電極と近く形成される前記第3電極の壁電圧を消去する消去波形を印加する段階
を含むプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記第1期間は、前記維持期間で実質的に前記第2電極に最後の維持放電パルスが印加される期間を含む、請求項1又は2に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記消去波形は、
前記第2電極に印加される前記維持放電パルスの幅より狭いパルス幅を有するパルス波形である、請求項3に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記消去波形は、
前記第2電極に印加される前記第1電圧より低い電圧のパルス波形である、請求項3に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記消去波形は、
前記第2電極に維持放電パルスを印加した後、前記第2電極の電圧を負の電圧でバイアスする波形である、請求項3に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記消去波形は、
前記第2電極に維持放電パルスが印加される間、前記第3電極の電圧を正の電圧でバイアスする波形である、請求項3に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記維持期間で、最後の維持放電パルスは前記第1電極に印加される、請求項3に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記維持期間に繋がるリセット期間で、
前記第1電極に最後の維持放電パルスを印加した後、前記第1電極の電圧を漸進的に減少させる、請求項8に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 複数の走査電極と複数の維持電極、及び前記走査電極と維持電極に交差する方向に形成される複数のアドレス電極を含むプラズマ表示パネル、
前記プラズマ表示パネルの温度を感知する温度感知部、
維持期間で、走査電極及び維持電極に維持放電パルスを印加して、前記走査電極と維持電極との間で維持放電を遂行する駆動部、及び
前記プラズマ表示パネルの温度に応じて、維持期間中の第1期間で、前記アドレス電極に形成される壁電荷が消去されるように前記駆動部を制御する制御部を含む、プラズマ表示装置。 - 前記第1期間で、
前記制御部は、前記プラズマ表示パネルの温度が第1温度より低い場合、前記アドレス電極に形成された壁電荷が消去されるように前記駆動部を制御する、請求項10に記載のプラズマ表示装置。 - 前記第1期間は、前記維持期間で、前記維持電極に最後の維持放電パルスが印加される期間を含む、請求項11に記載のプラズマ表示装置。
- 前記駆動部は、前記維持期間に繋がる次のサブフィールドのリセット期間で、前記維持期間の間維持放電が起こった放電セルに対し、初期化を遂行する、請求項10乃至12のうちのいずれか一つに記載のプラズマ表示装置。
