Abstract
【解決手段】 読取り部HRと、前記読取り部HR上方に形成された垂直記録磁気ヘッドH1を有している。前記垂直記録磁気ヘッドH1を構成する第1の磁性部160又は第2の磁性部161の内、前記読取り部HR側に位置する一方の磁性部と前記読取り部HRとの間に第1コイル層108が形成され、前記一方の磁性部と他方の磁性部との間に第2コイル層114が形成され、これら2つのコイル層108,114とで、前記一方の磁性部の周囲にトロイダルコイル層120が形成される。2つのコイル層108,114のみで発生した記録磁界に基く漏れ磁界の磁束を、第1コイル層108で発生した磁束で打ち消すため、漏れ磁界の磁束を効果的に打ち消し、記録フリンジングを効果的に抑制できる。

また、前記分離層7に埋設されて強磁性材料からなるヨーク層8が形成されている。
主磁極10の周囲には、絶縁性材料層19が設けられている。
前記垂直記録磁気ヘッドは、記録媒体との対向面にトラック幅で形成された主磁極を有する第1の磁性部と、トラック幅よりも広い幅寸法で形成された第2の磁性部とが前記読取り部の上方に上下方向に間隔を空けて形成され、前記第1の磁性部と第2の磁性部とが記録媒体との対向面よりもハイト方向側で直接あるいは間接的に接続されており、
前記第1の磁性部または前記第2の磁性部のうち、前記読取り部の側に位置する一方の磁性部と前記読取り部との間に第1コイル層が形成され、前記一方の磁性部と、前記一方の磁性部の上方に位置する他方の磁性部との間に第2コイル層が形成され、
前記第1コイル層と前記第2コイル層とが電気的に接続されて、前記一方の磁性部の周囲にトロイダル状に巻回されたトロイダルコイル層が形成されていることを特徴とするものである。
図1に示す磁気ヘッドH1は、記録媒体Mに垂直磁界を与え、記録媒体Mのハード膜Maを垂直方向に磁化させる、いわゆる垂直記録磁気ヘッドと呼ばれるものである。

Claims (6)
- 読み取り素子を有する読取り部と、前記読取り部の上方に形成された垂直記録磁気ヘッドとを有し、
前記垂直記録磁気ヘッドは、記録媒体との対向面にトラック幅で形成された主磁極を有する第1の磁性部と、トラック幅よりも広い幅寸法で形成された第2の磁性部とが前記読取り部の上方に上下方向に間隔を空けて形成され、前記第1の磁性部と第2の磁性部とが記録媒体との対向面よりもハイト方向側で直接あるいは間接的に接続されており、
前記第1の磁性部または前記第2の磁性部のうち、前記読取り部の側に位置する一方の磁性部と前記読取り部との間に第1コイル層が形成され、前記一方の磁性部と、前記一方の磁性部の上方に位置する他方の磁性部との間に第2コイル層が形成され、
前記第1コイル層と前記第2コイル層とが電気的に接続されて、前記一方の磁性部の周囲にトロイダル状に巻回されたトロイダルコイル層が形成されていることを特徴とする磁気ヘッド。 - 前記第1コイル層の断面積が、前記第2コイル層の断面積よりも大きい請求項1記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 前記第1コイル層のハイト方向における幅寸法が、前記第2コイル層のハイト方向における幅寸法よりも大きい請求項2記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 前記読取り部側に位置する前記一方の磁性部に対し、前記トロイダルコイル層によって記録磁界が与えられて、前記第1の磁性部と前記第2の磁性部とに記録磁界が流れる磁気回路が形成され、前記第1コイル層の周囲に、前記読取り部に流れた前記記録磁界からの漏れ磁界の磁束と逆方向の磁束が発生し、前記逆方向の磁束が前記漏れ磁界の磁束を打ち消す請求項1ないし3のいずれかに記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 前記読取り部の側に位置する前記一方の磁性部が、前記第1の磁性部である請求項1ないし4のいずれかに記載の磁気ヘッド。
- 前記読取り部の側に位置する前記一方の磁性部が、前記第2の磁性部である請求項1ないし4のいずれかに記載の磁気検出素子。
