Abstract

(57)【要約】 【課題】 この発明は、簡単な操作で目的とする選択対
象を選択することができるようになるポインティング方
法を提供することを目的とする。 【解決手段】 ディスプレイに表示された複数の選択対
象のうちから、目的とする選択対象を選択するポインテ
ィング方法において、ポインティングを行うために用い
られるＮ個（Ｎは２以上の整数）のキーを設け、Ｎ個の
キーに対応して画面をＮ分割して表示し、目的とする選
択対象が存在する領域に対応するキーがユーザによって
操作されると、そのキーに対応する領域のみを１画面の
大きさに拡大して表示するとともに、Ｎ個のキーの配置
に対応して画面をＮ分割して表示し、ユーザによるキー
操作が行われる毎に同様な処理を行うことにより、目的
とする選択対象を選択するようにした。

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【発明の属する技術分野】この発明は、小型電子機器、
携帯型電子機器等のディスプレイ上に表示された複数の
アイコン等の選択対象から目的とする選択対象を選択す
るためのポインティング方法に関する。

【従来の技術】小型電子機器、携帯型電子機器等のディ
スプレイ上に表示された複数のアイコンから１つのアイ
コンを選択するためのポインティング方法としては、カ
ーソルキーを用いる方法が一般的に採用されている。し
かしながら、この方法では、小さい画面内で目的のアイ
コンにカーソルを移動させる必要があり、その操作が難
しいという問題がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】この発明は、簡単な操
作で目的とする選択対象を選択することができるように
なるポインティング方法を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】この発明による第１のポ
インティング方法は、ディスプレイに表示された複数の
選択対象のうちから、目的とする選択対象を選択するポ
インティング方法において、ポインティングを行うため
に用いられるＮ個（Ｎは２以上の整数）のキーを設け、
Ｎ個のキーに対応して画面をＮ分割して表示し、目的と
する選択対象が存在する領域に対応するキーがユーザに
よって操作されると、そのキーに対応する領域のみを１
画面の大きさに拡大して表示するとともに、Ｎ個のキー
の配置に対応して画面をＮ分割して表示し、ユーザによ
るキー操作が行われる毎に同様な処理を行うことによ
り、目的とする選択対象を選択するようにしたことを特
徴とする。
【０００５】この発明による第２のポインティング方法
は、ディスプレイに表示された複数の選択対象のうちか
ら、目的とする選択対象を選択するポインティング方法
において、ポインティングを行うために用いられる４個
のキーを設け、４個のキーに対応して画面を４分割して
表示し、目的とする選択対象が存在する領域に対応する
キーがユーザによって操作されると、そのキーに対応す
る領域のみを１画面の大きさに拡大して表示するととも
に、４個のキーの配置に対応して画面を４分割して表示
し、ユーザによるキー操作が行われる毎に同様な処理を
行うことにより、目的とする選択対象を選択するように
したことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】以下、図面を参照して、この発明
の実施の形態について説明する。
【０００７】〔１〕第１の実施の形態の説明
【０００８】図１は、携帯型電子機器のディスプレイ装
置に表示された画面と、アイコン等の選択対象を選択す
るために設けられた４つのキー１、２、３、４を示して
いる。
【０００９】図１の画面には、５つのアイコンＡ、Ｂ、
Ｃ、Ｄ、Ｅが表示されている。また、４つのキー１、
２、３、４の配置に対応して、画面は破線で示す境界表
示によって４分割されている。
【００１０】ここでは、アイコンＡが目的とするアイコ
ンである場合に、アイコンＡを選択するための操作およ
び動作について説明する。
【００１１】目的とするアイコンＡは４分割された画面
のうちの左上の領域に存在するので、ユーザはアイコン
Ａが存在する領域に対応するキー１を操作する。する
と、図２に示すように、左上の領域の画像のみが１画面
の大きさに拡大されて表示されるとともに、４つのキー
１、２、３、４の配置に対応して画面が４分割されて表
示される。この画面では、２つのアイコンＡ、Ｂが表示
されている。
【００１２】目的とするアイコンＡは４分割された画面
のうちの左上の領域に存在し、かつこの領域には他のア
イコンは存在しないので、ユーザがアイコンＡが存在す
る領域に対応するキー１を操作すると、アイコンＡが選
択される。
【００１３】〔２〕第２の実施の形態の説明
【００１４】図３は、携帯型電子機器のディスプレイ装
置に表示された画面と、アイコン等の選択対象を選択す
るために設けられた４つのキー１、２、３、４と、決定
キー５を示している。
【００１５】図３の画面には、５つのアイコンＡ、Ｂ、
Ｃ、Ｄ、Ｅが表示されている。また、４つのキー１、
２、３、４の配置に対応して、画面は破線で示す境界表
示によって４分割されている。
【００１６】ここでは、アイコンＡが目的とするアイコ
ンである場合に、アイコンＡを選択するための操作およ
び動作について説明する。
【００１７】目的とするアイコンＡは４分割された画面
のうちの左上の領域に存在するので、ユーザはアイコン
Ａが存在する領域に対応するキー１を操作する。する
と、図４に示すように、左上の領域の画像のみが１画面
の大きさに拡大されて表示されるとともに、４つのキー
１、２、３、４の配置に対応して画面が４分割されて表
示される。この画面では、２つのアイコンＡ、Ｂが表示
されている。
【００１８】目的とするアイコンＡは４分割された画面
のうちの左上の領域に存在するので、ユーザはアイコン
Ａが存在する領域に対応するキー１を操作する。する
と、図５に示すように、左上の領域の画像のみが１画面
の大きさに拡大されて表示されるとともに、４つのキー
１、２、３、４の配置に対応して画面が４分割されて表
示される。この画面では、１つのアイコンＡのみが表示
されている。このように１つのアイコンのみが表示され
ている状態において、決定キー５が操作されると、アイ
コンＡが選択される。

【発明の効果】この発明によれば、簡単な操作で目的と
する選択対象を選択することができるようになる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 ディスプレイに表示された複数の選択対
    象のうちから、目的とする選択対象を選択するポインテ
    ィング方法において、 ポインティングを行うために用いられるＮ個（Ｎは２以
    上の整数）のキーを設け、Ｎ個のキーに対応して画面を
    Ｎ分割して表示し、目的とする選択対象が存在する領域
    に対応するキーがユーザによって操作されると、そのキ
    ーに対応する領域のみを１画面の大きさに拡大して表示
    するとともに、Ｎ個のキーの配置に対応して画面をＮ分
    割して表示し、ユーザによるキー操作が行われる毎に同
    様な処理を行うことにより、目的とする選択対象を選択
    するようにしたポインティング方法。
  2. 【請求項２】 ディスプレイに表示された複数の選択対
    象のうちから、目的とする選択対象を選択するポインテ
    ィング方法において、 ポインティングを行うために用いられる４個のキーを設
    け、４個のキーに対応して画面を４分割して表示し、目
    的とする選択対象が存在する領域に対応するキーがユー
    ザによって操作されると、そのキーに対応する領域のみ
    を１画面の大きさに拡大して表示するとともに、４個の
    キーの配置に対応して画面を４分割して表示し、ユーザ
    によるキー操作が行われる毎に同様な処理を行うことに
    より、目的とする選択対象を選択するようにしたポイン
    ティング方法。
