A találmány tárgya eljárás az (1) általános képletű 3,3-dimetil-2-formil-ciklopropánkarbonsav-észterek - a képletben R jelentésealkilcsoport, cikloalkilcsoport vagy adott esetben szubsztituáltaralkilcsoport - előállítására. A találmány értelmében úgy járnak el,hogy valamely (2) általános képletű 3,3-dimetil-2-(2-metil-1-propenil)ciklopropánkarbonsav-észtert - a képletben R jelentése akorábban megadott - hidrogénperoxiddal reagáltatnak wolfram(VI)oxid,wolframsav, wolframsav-sók, alkilréniumoxidok, molibdén(III)oxid,molibdátok, továbbá foszfor, bór vagy szilícium közül megválasztottheteroatomot és wolfram vagy molibdén közül megválasztott poliatomottartalmazó heteropolisavak és ilyen heteropolisavak sói közülmegválasztott legalább egy katalizátor jelenlétében.
