Abstract

999,833. Closures for lined containers. VICTOR BLAGDEN (MANCHESTER) Ltd. June 1, 1964 [April 2, 1963], No. 13071/63. Headings B8D and B8T. A boss 18 of a polythene inner drum 17 projects through a bung-opening in the top 14 of an outer steel drum 11, and a seal between the boss and the opening provided by a screwthreaded ring 22, of plastics material, a rubber gasket 29, which seats on the ring 22 and on a seat 26 on the boss, and a screw-threaded ring 28 which forces the gasket against its seats. The boss 18 receives a polythene bung 20 which bears on a rubber gasket 21, the bung having a screw-threaded aperture 34 to receive a stopper. A metallic cap 31 is screwed on to the ring 22 which has recesses 24 on its underside at circumferentially spaced positions to receive raised portions 23 on the top 14 of the drum to prevent its rotation. The drum may have several such closure structures, one of which may project from the drum side wall. The drum 11 is cyclindrical with circumferential stiffening corrugations and with seamed-on ends.
