998,965. Magnetic locks. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 12, 1962 [Dec. 15, 1961], No. 46938/62. Heading E2A. A magnetic door lock comprises an armature 17 and a magnetic lock bolt 9 rotatable about its longitudinal axis and arranged to co-operate with the armature to maintain the door in a closed position wherein the lock bolt is movable along guide members fixed on limbs 6, 7 of a U-shaped tumbler 1 which is connected to a shaft 3 on which a door handle 4 is arranged to be mounted. As shown, bolt 9 comprises a central part 10 set between end caps 11, 12 and in use co-operates with the armature 17 and a wedge member 18 attached to the jamb of the door, the end cap 11 having a rightangled edge to engage behind the wedge in the closed position of the door, and the end cap 12 being chamfered to assist engagement with the wedge as the door is closed. Pivotal movement of the tumbler 1 is limited by an arm 19 provided with caps 20, 21, preferably of rubber, which are adapted to abut the inner wall of the lock case 2. Projection of the bolt 9 from the limbs 6, 7 of the tumbler is adjustable by means of pins 14 engageable with holes 15 in the limbs 6, 7 and serving as abutments for a spindle 13 of the bolt 9. In another arrangement Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the bolt rolls along grooves in the limbs of the tumbler and a single adjusting screw at the outer end of one limb limits the projection of the bolt from the limbs.
