Abstract

1376520 Pickproofing locks CRISIS CONTROL SYSTEMS INC 19 Oct 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 48270/72 Heading E2A An apparatus for association with a revolving barrel lock for revolving the same pickproof comprises an enclosure member 37 having a cover 39, side wall portions 40 and attachment means 38 for securing the enclosure member 37 to a door 10 about the lock. An aperture 42 is provided in the cover 39 in alignment with the lock barrel and a shutter member 18 is movable in the enclosure member 37 between a first limiting position and a second limiting position. In the second position and in intermediate positions between the second and first positions the shutter member 18 moves in a slideway of the enclosure member 37 so that relative rotation between the members 18, 37 cannot take place but in the first position the shutter member is clear of the slideway and relative rotation is possible. Also in the second position the shutter member 18 opens the aperture 42 in the cover 39 for insertion of a key into the lock barrel but in the first position it closes the aperture. A gate member 19 for rigid connection to the lock barrel for rotation therewith is also provided and guides the shutter member for rectilinear sliding movement, the arrangement being such that with the shutter member 18 in its second position a key K is inserted in the barrel of the lock, the shutter member then being moved to its first position and rotated whereby the gate member 19 and lock barrel are rotated to free the lock. The key, being fore shortened is removed from the lock barrel by a key retriever 55 which comprises a rigid blade 57 and a hooked spring 59 which co-operates with a slot 54 in the head of the key. The cover may be provided with a hasp 48 and the shutter member 18 an aperture 49 for the reception of a padlock (Fig. 2, not shown) to retain the shutter member 18 in its second position. The lock as disclosed is of the split tumbler type (Fig. 4, not shown).
