Abstract

1,187,253. Door latches. JOHN PICKUP Ltd. 25 Sept., 1968 [26 Sept., 1967], No. 43655/67. Heading E2A. A door latch for operation by disabled persons by simply pushing the handle b<SP>2</SP>, has a pivoted latch C which is moved to the active position, Fig. 2, by engagement with a fixed roller b<SP>4</SP>, and is unlocked from a pawl-lever D by axial movement of the handle, Fig. 3, while at the same time a spring-loaded shoe d<SP>8</SP> passes over-center to rotate the latch to its inoperative position. The handle may be pulled from the other side, e.g. by a magnet. By duplicating part of the mechanism, the latch may be made suitable for a swinging door opening in either direction.
