Abstract

1,026,541. Sash locks. LOWE & FLETCHER, Ltd. and WILKES BERGER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. July 5, 1962 [April 7, 1961], No. 12495/61. Heading E2A. A sash lock having an eccentrically pivoted bolt 22 formed with a driven gear element, e.g. a toothed edge 26, is characterized in that a driving gear element 30 mounted on a spindle 31 is moved to the position in Fig. 1 where its teeth 30c, 30d obstruct movement of the teeth 26b, 26c of the element 26, to maintain the bolt in its locked position. The element 30 may be spring-biased to the locked position or be maintained there by its weight or it may be rotated by a key. In a modification a sliding bolt replaces the angularly movable bolt. In a further modification a cylinder-type key actuated lock intervenes between the key and the driving gear element, with the barrel forming the means for rotating the driving gear element.
