Abstract
998,738. Drafting apparatus. MAREMONT CORPORATION. Oct. 4, 1961 [Oct. 6, 1960], No. 35789/61. Heading D1D. In drafting mechanism having a front top roll 4 with two bosses 14 and an apron arrangement comprising a pair of lower belts 20 passing about a driving roll 22, and apron bar 24 and a tensioning roller 28 and a pair of co-operating upper belts 30 passing about bosses on upper roll 6 and a tensor member 42 mounted in a cradle assembly which, by means of side members 40, also carries roll 6, the front roll 4 is supported by a member 58, 64, 54, 66 which is mounted by screws 53 on the tensor 42 between the aprons 30. The support member for roll 4 comprises on to arms 58 which receive the roll arbors 15, inwardly extending arms 64 joined by a bar 66 and inner arms 54 having projections 52 by which the member is screwed to tensor 42. Adjustment of the separation of the forward nip of the apron is effected by a screw 49 in the lower apron bar 24 which also locates tongues 46 of the upper apron cradle. The weighting of the rollers may be magnetic as in Specification 878,256. With the mechanism shown piecing up may be accomplished at the apron arrangement rather than the front rolls.
