Abstract
Dyeings and prints made on natural or synthetic polyamide fibres with reactive dyes under acid conditions are after-treated with condensation products, preferably in dissolved form, which are obtained by reacting formaldehyde with dihydroxydiphenyl sulphones and aromatic sulphonic acids in acid solution. The preferred sulphone is 4, 41-dihydroxydiphenyl sulphone and the specified aromatic sulphonic acids are monoto tri-sulpho-naphthalenes, especially 2-sulphonaphthalene and 1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydronaphthalene sulphonic acid. The after-treatment may be effected at 60-80 DEG C. for 15-30 minutes, either by adding the condensate to the dyebath or by rinsing and treating in a fresh bath; preferably the after-treatment is accomplished at pH 4,5-5 using acetic acid. Many types of reactive, water-soluble dyes are specified. Examples of dyeing wool and nylon are given. Specification 375,160 is referred to.
