Abstract

1428975 Dyeing polyester cellulose unions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD 25 July 1973 [2 Aug 1972] 36020/72 Heading D1B Unions of aromatic polyester and cellulose (including viscose) materials are dyed, printed or padded with an aqueous liquor containing an alkali metal salt of a disperse dye which contains at least one carboxylic acid, hydroxyaryl, sulphamoylaryl or tautomeric keto-enol group but is free from sulphonic acid groups and an aqueous liquor containing a watersoluble reactive dye for cellulose which contains at least one reactive methylol residue. The disperse dye may be applied before, after or along with the reactive dye. In preferred emibodiments (a) the union fabric is padded with a liquor containing both dyes, optionally dried, exposed to acid conditions and other to wet or dry heat to fix the disperse dye and cure the reactive dye and subsequently given an alkali rinse, (b) the disperse dye and reactive dyes are applied successively in any order each dye being given an acid treatment and a wet or dry fixation step followed by an aqueous alkali treatment and (c) the union fabric is dyed in a dyebath containing both dyes at below pH 7, heated to fix the reactive dye and then given an aqueous alkali rinse.
