Abstract

1418667 Dyeing aromatic polyesters IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD 24 May 1973 [26 July 1972] 34939/72 Heading D1B Aromatic polyesters are dyed in a continuous process by padding the material through an aqueous padding liquor containing (a) one or more disperse dyes, (b) urea, (c) an amide of a fatty carboxylic acid containing at least 12 atoms and (d) water, drying the material and then giving it a dry heat treatment or a treatment in superheated steam. The padding liquor preferably contains 10-20% by weight urea and 0.5-4.0% by weight of the fatty acid amide. Preferably N-mono- and di-hydroxyalkylamides of fatty carboxylic acids are used. The padding liquor may be applied by vacuum impregnation. The dry heat tretament takes place at 160‹-220‹C and is superheated steam treatment at 140-180‹C.
