Abstract

1315939 Dyeing fibrous substrates IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Oct 1970 [31 July 1969] 38435/69 Heading D1B Fibrous substrates are dyed or printed by applying a dyestuff having an amino group bound to a saturated carbon atom the amino group having at least one hydrogen atom which is replaced by reacting before, during or after the dyeing or printing by the acyl group of an ester of a polybasic carboxylic or carbothioic acid. Wool, silk, leather, cotton, viscose rayon, di- and tri-cellulose acetate, polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes and polyacrylonitrile fibres may be dyed with water-soluble or water-insoluble dyes, a heat treatment, e.g. steaming or dry heat may be employed to cause reaction between the dye amino group and the ester.
