Abstract

Nylon yarn is treated with an aqueous solution of a hypochlorite and then dyed with an acid wool dye, water-soluble acetate dye, premetallized dye, chrome dye or basic dye. The hypochlorite may be applied to a nylon fabric in the form of a pattern and the fabric then dyed, whereupon a pattern effect is produced, the treated parts of the fabric being paler in shade. In an example, nylon fabric is immersed at room temperature in a solution of sodium hypochlorite, washed, immersed in sodium bisulphite solution, washed again, and dyed with Naphthalene Scarlet 4RS in the presence of formic acid. Specification 539,566 is referred to.
