Abstract

Textile materials composed wholly or partly of nylon are pretreated in a bath containing cresol sulphonic acid, phenol sulphonic acid, salicylic acid or cinnamic acid, washed, and subsequently dyed, e.g., with cotton dyes, acid wool dyes, dispersed cellulose acetate dyes, vat dyes, solubilized vat dyes or azoic dyes. In examples: (1) nylon fabric is treated with aqueous 2 per cent salicylic acid at the boil, washed and dyed with Chlorantine Fast Orange G; (2) nylon fabric is boiled in 2 per cent aqueous cinnamic acid, washed and dyed with Xylene Brilliant Cyanine 6B; (3) nylon fabric is boiled in 2 per cent aqueous cinnamic acid, washed and dyed with Serisol Brilliant Blue BG; (4) nylon fabric is boiled in 2 per cent aqueous cinnamic acid, washed and dyed with Caledon Red BN200; (5) nylon fabric is boiled in 2 per cent aqueous cinnamic acid, washed and dyed with Soledon Orange RS; and (6) nylon fabric is boiled in 2 per cent aqueous salicylic acid, washed and dyed with Brenthol AS and developed with Brentamine Fast Blue BB Salt.
