Abstract

Fabrics formed of jute together with other yarns of cellulosic origin are subjected to a dry cleaning or extraction process, e.g., with benzine or carbon tetrachloride, to remove all the oils, fats and waxes from the jute, and are then subjected to dyeing with a dye having an affinity for the jute but not, or to a much less extent, for the other yarns, so as to produce a coloured design or pattern effect predetermined by the manner in which the jute is combined with the other yarns. Specification 571,799 is referred to.ALSO:Fabrics formed of jute together with other yarns of cellulosic origin are subjected to a dry cleaning or extraction process to remove all the oils, fats and waxes from the jute, and are thereafter subjected to dyeing with a dye having an affinity for the jute but not, or to a much less extent, for the other yarns, so as to produce a coloured design or pattern effect predetermined by the manner in which the jute is combined with the other yarns. The fabric may also be dyed with a dyestuff having an affinity for the other yarns but not for the jute. Benzine or other dry cleaning fluid such as carbon tetrachloride may be used for the extraction process. Suitable dyestuffs mentioned are Indigosol Brown I.R.R.D. which dyes jute but not (or to a lesser extent) cotton; Naphthol dyes which dye jute more rapidly than cotton; Durazol Fast Yellow G.R.S. which dyes cotton but not jute; a mixture of jute dyeing Solacet Fast Orange 2G.K.S. and cotton dyeing Durazol Fast Blue 4G.S.; Brenthol F.R. coupled with Brentamine Fast Orange G.C. salt, which gives a tone in tone effect with jute and cotton; and a mixture of jute dyeing Solacet Fast Blue 2B.S. and viscose dyeing Chlorazol Fast Pink B.K.S. A suitable dye for dyeing viscose in a separate stage is Durazol Fast Violet 2B.S. Specification 571,799 is referred to.
