Abstract
990,318. Pneumatic despatch apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Nov. 8, 1963 [Nov. 12, 1962], No. 44164/63. Heading B8A. In an automatic pneumatic tube system with dispatch and receiving stations 5, Fig. 1, arranged in a circular route the tube 1 is divided into a number of sections, each containing a substantially equal number of stations 5 and each section having a carrier spacing device 3a, 3b, 3c and destination scanning device 4, Fig. 2, at the entry end to control carrier switching means at the stations in its respective section. Each spacing device comprises a section of tube 1 with at least one suction inlet 6 and/or compressed air line 7 and a non-return flap 10. Separating elements 12, 14 are provided to operate in conjunction with a solenoid valve 8 in the suction inlet 6. Trip switches 9, 11, 13 associated with time delay devices control the release of the containers.
