Abstract

A composite yarn, which is to be bulked (before or after knitting or weaving into fabric or forming into non-woven fabric) by differential shrinkage of fibre components caused by a thermal or chemical treatment, comprises a "blend" i.e.a mixture of staple fibres and/or intertwisted filaments, of fibre of polyethylene terephthalate copolyesterified with polyethylene isophthalate and synthetic and/or natural fibre of relativity low shrinkability e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, cotton, regenerated cellulose, or wool. The fibres may differ as regards length, lustre, denier, crimp.
