Abstract

A fire resistant fabric is made from chenille whose pile includes a substantial proportion of polyvinyl chloride and/or polyvinylidene chloride yarn and whose case is of normal textile fibres such as cotton, wool or rayon or other synthetic fibres. This chenille may be used as warp and/or weft. The P.V.C. yarn may be spun or continuous filament and when subjected to substantial heat melts and forms a protective coating around the other fibres.
