Abstract

At least one crepe-twisted regenerated cellulose yarn is lapped with a synthetic e.g. polyacrylonitrile, polyamide, polyester or polyolefin, yarn or monofilament of finer count, the lapping twist being one tenth-one quarter of the crepe twist and in the same direction. The yarn may be "twist-set" e.g. sized or thermally treated as by steaming, to neutralise temporarily the mechanical reaction generated by the high twist, knitted or woven into fabric and "released" to develop crepe effects therein. A woven fabric comprises alternate S-twist and Z-twist lapped yarns in the warp and yarns of blended wool and polycaprolactum fibres in the weft. Another fabric has warp and weft of the lapped yarns used alternately two of S-twist and two of Z-twist.
