Abstract

976,855. Cleaning carding-engines. F. REITERER, L. WINDISCH, and J. NIFENECKER. April 17,1962 [May 25, 1961], No. 14937/62. Headings D1F and D1N. Apparatus for removing dust from a carding machine comprises a dust collecting roller 4 disposed parallel with the doffing cylinder 1 of the carding machine and a hood 5 located above the collecting roller and adapted, when subjected to suction, to receive dust released upon detachment of the web from the doffing cylinder. The collecting roller 4, which rotates at high speed, is equipped with a large number of fine points or teeth, inclined in the direction opposite to the rotation of the rollers, so that the roller grips the dust but creates an "almost non-existent" air current. Guide plates inside the hood and inspection windows in the hood are also provided while suction ducts 8, 9 connect each end of the hood to a recovery box and fan. This fan also blows air, in a return circuit, through a chamber 12, Fig. 4, to collect dust and waste from the flats.
