Abstract

920,478. Carding-engines. TOYO BOSEKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. July 18, 1961, No. 25963/61. Class 120 (1). [Also in Group XXVIII] A flat carding machine has beneath the takerin a perforated roller which creates air streams around that portion of the taker-in lying between the feed plate and the suction roller, so that long and useful fibres entrained in the air stream are deposited on the roller to be transferred to the teeth of the taker-in. The perforated roller 13 is enclosed in a casing 22 provided with a separating edge 24 located in close proximity to the surface of the taker-in 23. Above the taker-in 23 a cover 29 forms a pocket 30 in which turbulent air streams are created that facilitate the freeing of fibres from the taker-in. A stripping roller 33, Fig. 10, may be mounted in the pocket 30 and a shoot 32 installed over the cover 29 is arranged to feed fibres stripped from the flats to the feed plate 2. Mechanism for driving the perforated roller 13 successively in alternate directions is provided. Material carried through the suction tube is delivered to a rotary filter apparatus.
