Abstract

960,637. Carding engines. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. June 7, 1962 [March 17, 1961], No. 9891/61. Addition to 832,803. Heading D1N. The carding machine claimed in the parent Specification is improved by the addition of a separation edge to which loosened material is directed after passing the stationary assembly of rows of wire teeth so that fibres pass the separation edge on the side on which the beater is located and trash and other impurities fall away on the other side. The separation edge member F is mounted for adjustment relative to the taker-in C and closely behind it is arranged an under-grid UG so mounted that there is no abrupt flow discontinuity between the member F and the nose UGA of the undergrid. The comb bar E is covered with wire teeth and carries a plate P on its leading edge to prevent lodgement of trash.
