Abstract

673,897. Sliver condenser guides for gill boxes. WARNER & SWASEY CO. July 13, 1949 [July 22, 1948], No. 18487/49. Class 120(i) A condenser guide comprises a deflecting plate 20, beneath which a sliver passes from an endless belt 12 to the gill boxes of a drafting device and laterally movable bars 21, the aperture formed by the belt, bars and plate being substantially rectangular so as to compress the sliver into one of uniform cross-section prior to it being fed to the drafting mechanism, thereby enabling the sliver to be uniformly drafted. The leading edges of the guide bars 21 are rounded to provide a tapering throat and each bar 21 depends from a plate 31 to which it is secured by bolts extending through slots 32 in the plate.
