Abstract

832,803. Carding engines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. May 29, 1958 [March 7, 1957], No. 7633/57. Class 120(1) In a cotton carding machine, the conventional mote-knives beneath the takerin 40 are replaced by a stationary assembly of rows of wire teeth 13. As shown, the teeth are arranged in two spaced series of rows and are mounted between clips 122, 123 on the face of a bar 12 having links 11 slidable in recesses 24 in opposed wings 23 of a bracket 20. The ends of teeth 13 are in a common plane parallel to the plane which is tangential to the taker-in opposite the mid-point of bar 12. Coarse adjustment of the clearance of teeth 13 from the taker-in is provided by adjusting bracket 20 by means of bolts 21 and slots 22; fine adjustment is provided by screws 25. Teeth 13 may be inclined as shown, or oppositely.
