1,226,078. Gill boxes. SOUTH AFRICAN INVENTIONS DEVELOPMENT CORP. 29 Aug., 1969 [3 Sept., 1968], No. 43024/69. Heading DIN. A gilling machine comprises a movable apertured surface over which a sliver is to be drawn, means for feeding a sliver to and from the surface, combing pins on faller bars and an associated cam track which permits the pins to move between the apertures, the ends 12 of the faller bars being in staggered relationship on the cam track. The point of pin withdrawal below the moveable surface can be adjusted by movement of the cam track. There may be two rows of pins on each faller bar. The sliver can be pressed onto the movable surface by a driven or free roller or a stationary member.
