Abstract

720,524. Textile combing machines. T. M. M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. Sept. 17, 1953 [Sept. 17, 1952], No. 23329/52. Class 120 (1). A comber half-lap comprises a stock 10 having a series of longitudinal recesses 15 machined at equiangular spacing, and one face 151 of each recess being inclined to the face 151 of the preceding recess by an angle corresponding to the required angular spacing about the axis of the half-lap of needle-bars 161 the first of which bears over the greater part of its width against the face defining the first recess, each succeeding bar resting at its base against the side of a recess and also the adjacent face of the preceding bar. The bars are mounted in sets of three, Fig. 3 (not shown) each bar having wide slots to accommodate the protruding heads of screws 17 which hold the preceding bar. Concentricity of the tips of needles 163 may be assured, without the use of a setting gauge during assembly, by arranging for each bar to seat against the base 152 of a recess.
