Abstract

974,186. Milling. W. H. MEE. Sept. 19, 1963 [June 23, 1962], No. 24244/62. Heading B3K. [Also in Division D1] Toothed members to be used as card clothing in textile machines are formed by milling or like cutting, grinding or otherwise generating intersecting grooves or channels in a metal plate or strip, or in a cylinder, roller or other arcuate member. Gangs of cutters may be provided for cutting a plurality of grooves at one traverse and it is stated that the intersecting sets of grooves may be formed almost simultaneously. By appropriate pitching of the two sets of intersecting grooves 3, 4 the apex of each tooth may be either sharply pointed, Fig. 3, or have a flat top, Fig. 2.
