[Also in Group XXII] A combing machine half-lap of the kind in which each row of needles is fixed on a separate bar has needle bars assembled in groups to provide independent units for mounting on a halflap stock. Preferably, the bars 13 are grouped in fives, each bar supporting a row of needles 14 secured by a high melting-point solder. Several T-shaped slots are cut in the back edges of the bars 13 and correspondingly-shaped portions of (a) register blocks 15 pass through the slots. Other holes are formed in the bars 13 and molten solder is poured through the holes to fill them and cavities between the bars 13 and register blocks 15 to form a firm unit that may be secured to the half-lap stock by screws 12.
