Abstract

1,189,372. Guide associated with doffing roller. CARDING SPECIALISTS (CANADA) Ltd. 9 Feb, 1968 [15 Feb., 1967], No. 7183/67. Heading D1N. A guide member 11 is mounted in the space between the converging arcs of the wire clothed rollers 4, 6 (e.g. a doffing roller 4 and a stripping roller 6) of a carding apparatus and extends parallel with the roller axes. The member 11 serves to control the carded web and causes the stripping roller to assume the function of a web drafting roller. The guide member 11 has a lower part 17 secured between end brackets 18 carried by the carding machine frame 22. The brackets each have slots 19, 20 and securing bolts 21 to allow for lateral adjustments of the guide member. The member may be pivotally mounted on the brackets. The minimum gap setting of member 11 in relation to the roller surfaces is 0.010 inch.
