Abstract

1,158,304. Roller gins. TSENTRALNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEBDOVATELSKY INSTITUT KHLOPKOVOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI. 20 Jan., 1967, No. 3166/67. Heading DIN. A roller gin having a leather roller 8 and a knife 10 for separating the fibre from seed is provided with an arrangement for cleaning the fibre as it is delivered from the leather roller. Feed rollers 1 deliver cotton to a spiked roller 2 which loosens the cotton and allows impurities to fall through a screen 3. The cotton then passes a twine-trapping arrangement 5, down a chute 6 to a saw-toothed or card covered cylinder 7 which feeds it to a leather roller 8 co-operating with a roller 9 and a stationary knife 10, cylinder 7 and roller 9 having a perforated screen 17 thereunder for impurities. The fibres then pass via feed rollers 13 to a cleaning device comprising a saw toothed or card covered roller 11, grates 12 co-operating with the roller and a stripper 14 for removing the fibres from roller 11. A brush 18 is provided on roller 11.
