1,104,876. Opening fibres. VEPA A.G. 25, May, 1966 [2, July, 1965], No. 23256/66. Heading D1N. Short staple fibrous material 1 to be opened is fed via a vibrating chute 3 to a feed roller 4 situated close to, e.g. less than 1 mm., from an opening drum 5 having a surface of spikes, saw teeth or card wire. The chute 3 may be dispersed with, Fig. 2 not shown. Roller 4 may be grooved but is preferably fluted.
