Abstract

[Also in Division F4] A sieve drum arrangement for drying and processing loose fibrous material is fleece form 1 comprises a retractable opener 6 to which the fleece is guided by lickers-in 5, 5a from a sieve drum or drums 2 and from which the fleece passes to an inclined conveyer belt 8 for delivery to a further sieve drum 9. The sieve drum 2 has two shutters 10, 10<SP>1</SP> to form a sealing device at the material off-take point, being stationary and displaceable respectively, to alter the suction area of the drum. The lickers-in, drums and conveyer belt may be driven by a common drive means, and the opener 6 is driven independently and adjustably. The lickers-in may be replaced by an adjustable, perforated plate fed by a single roller, or by a shoot which may be vibratory or shaking.
