Abstract

1432423 Opening bales K OTA 9 May 1973 [22 July 1972] 22227/73 Heading DIN A method of opening a bale comprises feeding the bale 42 onto an inclined support, e.g. conveyor 41 or board 51 making an acute angle with an upwardly moving spiked lattice which combs the bale firstly at the corners and gradually around the bale which is tumbled on the support by the lifting action of the spiked lattice. A combing roller 44 may be provided to return large clumps of fibre to the bale opening area. Other bale openers with a non inclined support are described in association with Figs. 2, 3, 4 (not shown) but are not claimed.
