Abstract

975,864. Closure caps. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. Feb. 19, 1963 [March 14, 1962], No. 6695/63. Heading B8T. A screw cap 4 of plastics material has a spiral groove 8 cut or moulded into its under surface to provide a gas passage between the interior and exterior of a container 2 to which it is applied. The groove is 2-6 mils. deep and has 20-100 turns per inch, arranged so that at least one full turn rests on the lip 6 of the container to provide a liquid tight seal in the area 7.
