Abstract

1,036,399. Screw-cap closure. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. Feb. 22, 1965, No. 7560/65. Heading B8T. In a plastics screw-on closure, for bottles or the like, the ratio of the radial depth to the width RW of the screw thread 3 is at least 1À8 to 1. The under surface 6 of the thread may be flat and substantially radial to the axis of the closure. The thickness of the crown, and skirt, of the closure may not be greater than the width RW, permitting the material to follow and seal against the rim of the bottle. Additionally the closure may be provided with a flexible sealing element 8, as described in Specification 788,148, or a sealing ledge. Alternatively a sealing disc may be used as in Fig. 4 (not shown).
